This may be a commonly asked question, but are there any additions for using real player names in the UK leagues?

Thanks

depends on which system you're on. if you have linux, you can use the bygfoot-update script to get a couple of team definitions with names etc. (see this file for a list of teams).

if you use windows... well, you'll have to do things by hand. you can go here and get the team defs you want one by one and unpack them into some new directory in 'support_files', eg. 'support_files/teams' or so. they should get loaded at startup.

I tried to use bygfoot-update on Linux, but it keeps complaining about revision-number.

did you choose the correct menu entry (number 3, 'get official team names and team definitions')? the defs don't have anything to do with the revision number.

Option 3, the file window opens with the title "Select source package directory", no idea which to choose here. Selected /opt/bygfoot. File window opens with title "Select temporary directory", so pick /opt/bygfoot.

An error window is displayed saying "I couldn't find the file containing your current revision number and type (/opt/bygfoot/revision_number".

Thanks again.

which package do you have? binary? source? rpm?

try calling bygfoot-update -c -C ~/.bygfoot-1.9/definitions.

I used the binary.

then you should call bygfoot-update -c -C ./support_files/definitions from the dir with the bygfoot executable.

The update worked but I don't get real names for the English leagues.

Sorry player names. Team names are ok.

well, there is only a team def for a couple of teams (and a lot of them from div 1). have a look at the link i gave earlier, there you find the list of teams with a definition.

doesn't any of the teams have real player names? liverpool, for instance? then something went wrong.

I don't recognise any real names in Liverpool's team. So it didn't work for some reason.

That's ok - if only some of the players have real names I may as well stick with the fake ones. Thanks anyway :)
