Transfer accept dialogs
Transfer accept dialogs
in 1.8 if i had two or more players on the transfer list and at the end of a round teams were wanting to buy both of them . Both dialog boxes would come up and if I really only wanted to sell one I could choose which one by "gaining focus" selecting that box and accepting while rejecting the other.
In 1.9 they come one after the other.Im forced to make a decision on the first without knowing if the other may also recieve and offer.

i'm not sure i'll find a remedy for this the current user event system isn't designed for simultaneous eventsvector wrote:iIn 1.9 they come one after the other.Im forced to make a decision on the first without knowing if the other may also recieve and offer.

ok what if:
and Im not sure if this is difficult to implement Im truly not trying to make your job harder
a dialog pops up that says: "You have transfer list business"
then its up to you to goto transfer list page, players that have accepted your offer are highlighted or something. you click and the dialog box pops up with
Ill take him or no i have had second thougths or sorry you failed our physicall or you failed our trial.
Any highlighted player still on the list when the next match starts(because you either decided you didnt want him or forgot to check the list) is auto rejected. you have to start the process again.
this would be a great benefit . you would have time to check your finances, get a loan if need be(see other post) check you players . Make decision based on how you faird that week(I got caught in 1.8 once rejecting a player only to realise Id picked up 4 Inj/ban in the last game and really need anyone to fill in a gap.)

yes, this sounds like it could be implemented without having to change too many things. of course you deviated a bit from your first post, which was about players you want to _sell_, not buy, but i guess i could use the same solution for both. if there is an accepted offer for a player, the player gets locked for all users except the one the offer of whom got accepted and the user can then decide to buy him or not.vector wrote:a dialog pops up that says: "You have transfer list business"

if it's a user player for whom there's an offer, the user can decide whether to really sell the player.
question is, what do we do if it's a user player and a user wants to buy him???

all right, i've made some changes. this is how transfers work now:
gyözö
- buying a player
- you make an offer
- the following week the team considers your offer
- if your offer got accepted you have to go to the transfer list again and click on the player which will pop up a confirmation window.
- if you click on yes, the player gets transfered. if don't want to buy the player you click on no (but you can still buy him later the same week)
- selling a player
- you place the player on the transfer list
- if some cpu-team (or another user) places an offer, you get a message; you then
- go to the transfer list to have a look at the offer. if you like it, you click on yes and the transfer gets executet. if you don't like the offer, you click on no (but you can accept the offer later the same week)

Looks great however there seems to be a few bugs.
scenario1 (ill try a few more of these to see if its a bug or a user err
I had two offers on . 1 was accepted 1 was rejected.
i went to the TL and nothing was highlighted. Rclk and it said I hadnt made an offer (this was on the player that accepted?) the second player had been taken off the list.
scenario2
again two offers. and 1 selling
first offer not enough money. ( i thought it should say you have had an offer check TL, thus allowing you to go get a quick loan)
second offer rejected (ok)
selling player sold (ok)
(note in this case if i had control of events from the TL i could have accepted the sale first and would then have had the money to purchase and thus not needed a loan at all)
all transactions should be made from the TL , the only dialog that pops up after a match is (please check TL,) if there is something to look at.
the highlight in the TL indicating selling and buying is great
I would like to do everything from here.
right click a sale(green) and accept/reject offer,
right click an offer(orange)and
except transfer if my offer was enough
get told its not enough, the reason= fee or wage
preset dialog with last offer
and thus increase or cancel.

you're still thinking in single-player mode. let's suppose two users make an offer for the same player, but only one of them has enough money to back his offer. what's the program supposed to do now? tell the first user (whose offer was accepted) 'wait some weeks until the second user reviews and possibly improves his offer' ?scenario2

if you don't have enough money, your offer gets removed (for now). maybe i'm going to add an option that a possible loan is taken into account, too, but i'm not sure. that could lead to two users bidding, and one of them making an insanely high offer (counting a loan) and thus preventing the other user from buying the player (and the first one of course can then say, 'no, thank you, i've reconsidered, i don't buy the player after all').

no not some weeks. im saying that until the player starts the next week/match he has the ability to get loans etc and sort out his transfer stuff.. Whenever the user goes to the next match, offers not delt with are released.let's suppose two users make an offer for the same player, but only one of them has enough money to back his offer. what's the program supposed to do now? tell the first user (whose offer was accepted) 'wait some weeks until the second user reviews and possibly improves his offer' ?
vector switchs to multiplayer mode
scenario
(note all offers are above the "going rate" ie the accept/reject fee/wage numbers anything under that and the user gets the normal "not enough" when he clicks on the player in the TL)
at week 10 User A puts an offer on Fredrick the FWD. User B does the same(but < than A)
after week10's match, at week 11
User A and B gets the dialog "see TL".
A offered the most.( a block flag is placed so no one can buy Fred until A has delt with it or the week is over)So when A clicks the highlited player it says its been accepted do you stil want him. (yes/no/Cancel)
Yes i want him, bygfoot checks finance if ok transfer is made
No bygfoot returns the player to TL and removes the block flag
cancel Im not sure let me check finance think etc.
A can get finance or sell other players etc and come back to him.
OR he forfeits when he plays the next match.
Meanwhile
B clicks on fredrick "Im sorry Fredrick is reviewing another offer"
Bs previous offer is kept "alive" until A decides or A moves to the next week.
If A forfeits or rejects the offer User B will get his chance at week 12
week 12
A forefeited so is ignored he hasnt even got a "live" offer in.
B's offer is now given the green light.
If at any time a user sees
"Im sorry Fredrick is reviewing another offer"
he knows that "other users" are interested
he dosent know how many
he dosent know where he is in the order. he thus should be allowed to up his offer. This is not tested until the next week of course. In the case above thats week 12
Lets add User C to the scenario.
at week 10 C offered slightly less than B (but it was still above the going rate)
He too received the "Im sorry Fredrick is reviewing another offer"
But unlike B, decides to up the ante rather than let it ride. He increases his offer. at week 12 even tho B was next in line. The "test" is run afresh and sees C as now being the highest.
B sees the same old "im sorry" and logically deduces that someone or some other users are interested. He can give up and cancel, or ante up hoping to get him next round. or let it ride again.
sound complicated? but its really a very simple approach and more life like.
The test is only done at the begining of the next round. (there is no interaction within the round(far too complicated)
all dealing is done at the TL and not with after match popups.
It stands to reason that a manager would sort out the match effects(inj bans etc) first b4 he would attend to transfers and such.
what if A got (current system) his "do you want this player" dialog after his match and then went down the street for a beer. Would this not Pause the whole game? B can do nothing cause we are all waiting on a pop up from A . This sorta problem is negated by the above proposal.

this is mostly what's happening now, except that B's offer gets removed so he has to make a new offer in week 12. but maybe you're right and i should keep offers alive. i didn't do it, because it's simpler and the probability of things getting confused is smaller if we only keep the best offer.vector wrote: scenario

there are a lot of things that sound very simple but are hard to implement but you're right, this doesn't sound too complicated to do. the only difference is that all 'valid' (ie. high enough) offers are kept and only get removed when a user buys the player or when everybody clicked on 'no, thanks'.Lets add User C to the scenario.

I think the imporant bit to focus on is making the TL the command centre. and not having dialogs poping up at awkward times.
I leave it in your capable hands....but if you really dont want vector to keep bugging you over the TL then just do what I say

looking real good
Played a few rounds.
first thing i did wrong was right click on an accepted offer which removed it oopps i soon learnt to left click. Might? be worth putting a "are you sure"
Im not sure we need all the dialogs after a round? if your "TL active" ie doing lots of transferring and are playing multiplayer you can end up with a stream of dialogs you cant hope to remember. best to just say.."you have TL business"
and then let them click on players in the TL to see what the story is.
If you Lclk an accepted offer, as it is is perfect
if you Lclk a rejected offer it can say why and auto fill in the previous offer.
you can ante up or cancel
if you Lclk on a player your selling again as it stands its fine.
The highlight colours are great they will soon get the idea of whats what with a mere glance at the TL
the only other comment (because it really almost done
is when your transfering either way between a multiplayer. Possibly not a common occurance but . I had an accepted offer on a cpu player i wanted to buy. but i needed to sell one of mine first. He had been of interest to the multiplayer. but I couldnt go to the multiplayer and say multiplayer wants to buy him yes because the dialog "you still have TL business" stopped me swapping to the multiplayer. No doubt this is a code thing and im not sure its important to worry about.
However taking this story to the next step..

I dont have the money, I could get a lone then buy him.
I know i should have the money from my sale next week to pay the loan back

no, i don't think so. dialogs can become annoying (see below ) and i'd have to add an option to disable it etc. etc.vector wrote:Might? be worth putting a "are you sure"

that's what the dialogs are for. there's a reason they come up at the beginning of the week, i can't store the values that easily. you just have to memorize them as much as you can.if you Lclk a rejected offer it can say why and auto fill in the previous offer.
you can ante up or cancel
no, i don't want to change this because offers should get sorted anyway (what if you have three players, and two of them bid for the player? i don't want to sort 'on the fly', it's a lot better to do it every week once).but I couldnt go to the multiplayer and say multiplayer wants to buy him yes because the dialog "you still have TL business" stopped me swapping to the multiplayer. No doubt this is a code thing and im not sure its important to worry about.
i got another idea recently: i could add two spinbuttons to the transfer dialog window, and when a user deals with a cpu team, he can try to change the values already accepted (try out whether the cpu team would offer a bit more for the player, or whether the player would be satisfied with a little bit less money). sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (of course heavily depending on the changes the user makes).
