Player names pack

Greetings all,

I have been in contact with the developer of another football manager game (Global Soccer: A Management Game 2018) which utilises text file editing and he has given permission for me to upload the nationality name files from which new players are created. They would need to be converted to the bygfoot format (<last_name>LASTNAME</last_name>) but this can be done through a text editor such as 'Notepad ++.

Some of the countries don't have a huge amount but they might be useful for fleshing out some of the smaller national leagues

Please find the link below.

Thanks

Hello daons.

When it comes to name files, yes, there are definitions for counties which yet have their own name files and I can agree that having a name file for their very own would be nice. But then, when you have name files for country definitions that don't even exist right now, all you could use them for would be to have them included with the definitions for national teams, like the FIFA or wc06 definitions. Creating the individual country definitions themselves would be the best start. I'll say that gathering names for a name file is a pain in the ass as it can take some time. When I created the respective name files for the fwc22 definition, I used the website of soccerway.com as my reference and basically used the names of the players from the respective teams. For myself, it took some time but in the end, I feel it was worth it.

So having these files could be useful. I guess with myself, I'd still do it the old fashioned way and harvest the names the long way, as some of my requirements would be knowing that the names would be of players that were both born in and still consider themselves as nationals of said country. I guess one last thing to mention is that when using Windows to create files, you may have to be careful on the format that you use. I believe you may have to save the file in ANSI format to allow better compatibility. You can try it out with a name file or two to be safe. Sometimes Windows notepad would create added something or other that would show up as an odd character when opened up in linux, at least if I recall correctly. Well, if this is so, you may run into it when doing your work.

Beyond that, I can't think of anything else except to say welcome to the forum.

Thanks for this, these are all usefull points to consider. I'll have a go at creating some league/country definitions and see how they come together.
