Excitement ++++ :)
interesting post...while i was sleeping.
hmmmm
There are various posts and various conversations I have had that I wont simply repeat here..go search if you like. I hate typing.
Its a human trait to want complexity, because we can.
No doubt we would (if it were implemented) soon learn how to manage yet more attributes...but why? there are plenty of such convoluted games on the market. If I want to test myself as to how well I can implement my understanding of a 100 page manual Ill play one of those. (not likely)
Adding one more leads to two more leads to just one more leads to blow out.
The very essence of this original post was rooted in "its great just as it is".
and it will remain so, as long as a committee dosent try and make it better and stuff it up.

"There are two ways to score. Dribble it over the line or smash it into the back of the net."

Can't you guys imagine something else that extreme cases ? Why should there be only two possibilities: extreme simplicity (but boring) and extreme complexity (and burning your brain to ashes) ? You're wrong when you state that whoever whants a complex game can go and play another one, because as far as I know there is only one football manager for Linux and its name is Bygfoot (if you exclude the console remake called Football Manager). But while most parts of Bygfoot are growing fast, the main heart of the game (the players themselves) remains dramaticaly flat and close to the state of the art in football simulation when my grandmother had her first tooth (her last one dropped last year). Adding two or three attributes would increase the complexity arithmeticaly but would also increase the interest geometricaly. We have nothing to lose by defining 3 or four basic (because 3 or 4 is very few compared to usual football managers standards) attributes.
i think this will be my last post concerning the discussion.
my goal with the program i'm writing is not primarily to be successful and have many users. i love it if people download the game and contribute and discuss. but it is not the 'mission', as vector put it.
my goal with the program i'm writing is to create a football manager that i would love to play with as a user. i. me. gyözö.
gyözö hates football managers with more than 3 or 4 player attributes (that influence their performance in matches). gyözö loves football managers that are easy to play and understand, don't feature many player attributes, are fast, furious and fun and addictive.
it is this simple. i will only implement features that in my optinion will make the game better. and in my opinion the game isn't getting better if too many player attributes get added; it gets worse.
but as i said previously, i have nothing against a few new attributes if i'm convinced that i would still like to play the game as a user.
a final note: it's true that important parts of the game are getting better, "sponsors, dynamic comments, stadium riots, fires, different scout and medical qualities" are all there. but all these don't make the game more complex for the user, or only very slightly. 5 or 8 or 10 player attributes would.
