Okay, basically when I failed to meet the objective I was fired. After agreeing to the new offer I was given I went back into history. This was after season 6. I went into History and noticed that the Season 6 statistics showed I was coach of the "New" Team, and did not reflect the "old" team, even though I had spent the entire season with them.
the history only stores the team you coach at the end of a season. so if you change team in week 49, the history will show that team and not the one you coached for 48 weeks.
in 1.9 there'll be a user history storing all team changes.

Okay I see what you are saying. However shouldn't the firing/hiring at the end of the season take place then on Week 1 of the next season so that the previous year's stats would be correct?
Of course with the new history in 1.9 this probably won't matter anyway.
