two rules to avoid errors with the 1.9 cvs branch:
always start the game from the directory containing the build files (configure.in, autogen.sh etc.) via src/bygfoot. otherwise the game won't find the necessary support files, like the above mentioned bygfoot_constants
take care not to mix up old versions with new versions from the cvs. as i develop, new constants get added to the constants file, and if you by chance try to start the new version with the old constants file, some of the constants won't be found
i hope this solves your problem. on my system, a clean cvs build worked without errors.

Had the same problem.
Running the game with rule 1 and now is working.
I like where bygfoot is heading. Romanian teams in new format will come soon.
Would be nice a sticky topic on Development stages Section with informations about when new version is String Freeze. Translators can subcribe to that topic so they get notified via email.

oh, i'll simply email all the translators of the current version. i don't think an extra topic is necessary (and a lot of he translators don't participate in these forums at all, anyway).
