A group of programmers are doing a new manager, here:

http://www.futben.com/imagenes/alineacion.jpg

And they are very good with graphics and ideas. Look Fifa Rating of player, or selection of players.

Just only to show you another manager, but i don't know if it is GPL, at least they say it's free (as in beer).

Oh, is being programmed on Visual Basic.

Just remember, only ideas, i don't say it's a good idea to make a game like this.

thanks for the link.. looks too complicated for me tho,, the sort of game you really have to dig into.

I did however notice alot of copyright infringements.. I hope they have these OK'ed by the owners?

and visual basic? i suspect its only a windows game then yes?
still they have done a lot of work and it looks nicely polished.. I wonder if these guys have day jobs ;)

It's complicated, with 4 stats would be OK for me. But i'm a fanatic of football managers, so don't hear me very much :)

THERE ARE copyrights infringements, they have to know it, but i think they don't matter :(

It's VB, and i'm almost sure is Windows only. That's what i said get only ideas. The most important thing is the engine, not the graphics.

Anda bout polished... it's only a bitmap, i doubt a lot that the game is near playable, as bygfoot is.

And about jobs... they say they have :)

Anyway, i have a lot of ideas based on roleplaying games for bygfoot, when 2.0 will be out, i'll try to chat with you (i'm very bad explaining in a forum or email) about these.

telling us what you'd like to have in Bygfoot is welcome, a lot of features in the current versions weren't my idea. so just go ahead (your posts were a bit general until now, i don't know exactly what you'd like to have changed/added/improved). take into account, however, that the 1.7 branch is feature-freezed and your suggestions will be implemented in the 1.9 branch earliest.

i can list a few things though (that i've seen on that screenshot), that definitely won't end up in Bygfoot :
  • there can't be copyright infringements. the game is available from Debian servers, and Debian can't have illegal stuff on their servers.
  • players won't have ttributes like 'aceleration', 'velocidad' or 'agresividad' (i didn't bother translating, it's almost like english anyway) as long as i'm lead developer. i hate managers featuring players with 100 attributes, most of which have about 0.0001 % influence on the match outcome. in Bygfoot you know what you get if you buy a 9.2 player.
  • we're not going to switch to VB and windog to make the game look more polished (i know you didn't suggest this, i just want to say that GTK2 with some nice icons by vector will be the best you'll get from this game).
nevertheless there might be some features in Bygfoot (notably in 1.9) that you won't find in most other managers; in 1.9 the country/league/cup system will be very customizable, you'll probably be able to reproduce exactly the system used in your country (via XML files; see development stages).

and please don't let me dishearten you. just because i'm against some features doesn't mean i won't be absolutely enthusiastic about others. just keep in mind that i mostly like to keep my game simple and easily playable.

and maybe you'd like to register here if you're going to participate in discussions; it's not mandatory, of course.

That game looks nuce, but probally isnt as fun and cool as Bygfoot.I mean Bygfoot is the best Manager game in history.no doubt about that .Bygfoot has alot of possiblities and they actually care about people saying things on the forums, unlike other progammers/companies.

I am seeking bygfoot since version 1.4, and the unique word i have is: thanks.

It's a good game, and i understand very well your point of view.

* I agree about infringements, period.

* I agree, in part, with no 100 skills. But i want at least 4 or 5 skills. Something like this:
- Defense.
- Passing.
- Speed.
- Shooting.
- Quality.

It's easy with 5 skills, and all you need is an easy formule for every position:

- Central Defense: Defense 85% others 5%
- Wing Defense: Defense 40% Speed 40% others 5%
- Middle Defensive: Defense 40% Passing 40% others 5%
- "Pure" Middle: Passing 60% Quality 20% others 5%
- Extreme: Speed 40% Passing 40% others 5%
- Forward or Striker: Shooting 40% Quality 40% others 5%.

I know it's difficult to adjust this to the engine, it's only an idea, or you can use any skill for events where player is involved, as if a defense shoot, use his shooting skill.

* I don't want you to switch to VB, please :) i was only talking bout that game.

But, i perhaps like a better interface, with more possibilities, as loans.

I know, you want to keep game simple, i only talk about what *I* want. Don't misunderstood me :)

* I love XML aproach to leagues, cups, and other competitions, it's superb idea.

* You don't desheart me, i know making a game like this is not easy, and listen to everyone is impossible. I just think more options would be wellcome, at least, for me. Only ideas, not mandatories :)

One more thing, sorry me for not contributing more to the game, but i don't have enough time. Thank you all for yours and excuse my little contribution.

P.S. And now, i'm registered :)
