depends on which system you're on. if you have linux, you can use the bygfoot-update script to get a couple of team definitions with names etc. (see this file for a list of teams).
if you use windows... well, you'll have to do things by hand. you can go here and get the team defs you want one by one and unpack them into some new directory in 'support_files', eg. 'support_files/teams' or so. they should get loaded at startup.

did you choose the correct menu entry (number 3, 'get official team names and team definitions')? the defs don't have anything to do with the revision number.

Option 3, the file window opens with the title "Select source package directory", no idea which to choose here. Selected /opt/bygfoot. File window opens with title "Select temporary directory", so pick /opt/bygfoot.
An error window is displayed saying "I couldn't find the file containing your current revision number and type (/opt/bygfoot/revision_number".
well, there is only a team def for a couple of teams (and a lot of them from div 1). have a look at the link i gave earlier, there you find the list of teams with a definition.
doesn't any of the teams have real player names? liverpool, for instance? then something went wrong.
