international leagues

Post by mom2pp »

i think it would be a good idea if you could see all the different countries leagues. this would mean that say you were playing in the premiership in england you would be able to see who was top of the league in say, germany. you could also see the results of the last weeks games in belguim say.

this would be good because it would mean that the champions league/uefa cup/cup winners cup entrants wouldnt be selected randomly. and also the bit where it says what rank they are isnt very useful in european competitions but now it could say where they were in their own domestic league.

it would also broaden the scope of the transfer market. you could have tabs at the top with all the different country names and you could search through one country or you could have your own custom tab (a kind of wish list) at the end which you chose the settings for the players in it (in the preferences menu). then bygfoot would search through all the different country transfer lists and put the players meeting your specifications on your wish list.

you could also have users in different countries from each other.

when you were sacked or if you were doing well you could recieve a job offer from a team in a different country. of course there would be a higher chance of you getting given a job offer by someone from your own country. this would make the game quite interesting and more challenging as you could be managing liverpool in england and then recieve a job offer from say corinthians in brazil (i think thats a brazilian team but if its not feel free to correct me Oki because i dont know that much about brazilian or south american football  ). if you accepted the offer it would give you a whole new set of competitions to compete in and it would be an interesting tactical challenge to see if you could adapt to football in your new country.

i understand that all this would be quite hard to implement but it would make bygfoot a lot more interesting.

i've had thoughts about this, too. it would be really a nice feature. however, there are (mainly) two reasons why this is rather something for 3.0 or 2.9, and not something for the near future:

1) it'd be very hard to implement

2) compared to 1.8, match calculation in 1.9 is painfully slow (because the simulation is a lot more accurate). yet the only way to include more than one country realistically in the game would be to simulate the matches and the season of each country (it'd be a bit weird to accept a job offer in week 25 from another country and then it's suddenly week 1 in that country).

this would mean we'd have to calculate 3, 5 or 10 times as many matches each week than for one country, and that would take a lot of time. who would want to wait 20 or 25 seconds each time after pressing 'new week'?

This has to be done sooner or later, but it's certainly not an urgent feature. As far as speed is concerned, I have two arguments:
1) Championship Manager 4 is incredibly slow on my P4 3.2GHz computer. It is very painful, indeed, especialy to wait for the 3rd leagues to finish. But Bygfoot matches, even if longer than in the 1.8 version, remain quite faster than the CM4 ones so I think 5 or 10 seconds of wait wouldn't be too painful.
2) We can code a simpler match engine for less interesting matches, which means all the matches outside a user's league. For example simply comparing the teams' average skills. However I don't like the idea too much, because I think that one of the main interests in simulating other leagues matches is to be able to discover new talents abroad.

3,2 GHz is a lot faster than our 1 GHz :o
