Player names from different countries
(for those who didn't read the development stages posts: it's now possible to load country-specific player names from different player names files.)
i've updated the howto and the tags ref, they include now sections about the player names files:
http://bygfoot.sf.net/doc/1.9/definitions_howto.html
http://bygfoot.sf.net/doc/1.9/tags_ref.html
i've made names files for england, germany, italy and france. if we use the english file for scotland and usa, too, we still need files for
- belgium
- romania
i guess this is something for atd and cristian.

That are names from the Netherlands, not from Belgium. We speak the same language but there are other names! I'll make one for Belgium soon.

hm... would you really have known those were dutch names if i hadn't named the file 'holland'?atd wrote:That are names from the Netherlands, not from Belgium. We speak the same language but there are other names! I'll make one for Belgium soon.

er... i found all my names (english, german, french and italian to date) on the web. this has the obvious advantage that you don't have to type anything, you just copy and paste (and of course i didn't type the tags <last_name> etc. either, i did it with emacs search-and-replace; if you don't know how to do it simply send me two files with lists of names without tags and i'll do the tags).atd wrote:We'll see. I'm going to use a telephone book for the second names.
to have a good name file one should have at least 100 last names, the more the better, and i wouldn't really want you to type in 100 or more names

ok gyozo would you like me to redo the scottish names for you?
because theyre not quite that weird
where did you get names such as tormoid and maldomaich from?
what, you don't know any tormoids and maldomaichs?Anonymous wrote:ok gyozo would you like me to redo the scottish names for you?

you can redo them if you like (support_files/names/player_names_scotland.xml) and send me the file, but that'd be quite brainless work, i guess. maybe it'd be better if you searched on the net for more appropriate names. or simply leave them as they are
