Re: Cup teams chosen from previous season's league tables

well, depends on the cup :-P it is impossible if the winchester cup (;-)) says 'take the teams that finish 1st to 5th from the third league'. that won't work because the first few got replaced by relegated teams. Well, that wouldn't work with the current code, for the first season. The Winchester w...

Players with international commitments

I was just reading the posts about World Cup definitions, and it reminded me of something from many years ago :) In Multiplayer Soccer Manager, when you got to the top division, from time to time one of your best players would suddenly wander off (just for 1 week) to play for his national team witho...

Re: Cup teams chosen from previous season's league tables

OK, I just grabbed the CVS. Yes, relegated teams now appear at the top, but I meant more than that. Teams that are neither promoted nor relegated still all get jumbled up. By "league order" I meant the order of all the teams in the league! (I get the feeling I'm struggling to convey my mea...

Re: Different scripts

yes, this wouldn't be that bad either. reading cyrillic isn't very hard, c is s, p is r and a few more things and you're ok :-) Absolutely, and it's even easier if you already know the Greek letters! Except for stuff like Я, and I always used to get Ц and Ч mixed up! Ш is guessable as well, if you ...

Re: Cup teams chosen from previous season's league tables

no, i implemented it. if was fairly simple and little change to the code. Oh, excellent :) I'll grab the new cvs tonight and have a look, if I get chance. however, this still doesn't solve our dilemma. the league tables are updated at the start of a season AFTER the cups (with add_week 0) have been...

Re: Cup teams chosen from previous season's league tables

the problem is obviously that european cups rely on the table positions at the end of a season, whereas national cups rely on the table at the beginning of a season. maybe it'd be best if we just take 'add_week=1' or =2 for national cups which load complete leagues. Yes, for cups that load a comple...

Cup teams chosen from previous season's league tables

Cup teams from national leagues are drawn from the previous season's tables, i.e. they don't take promotion and relegation into account. For example, if I get relegated from the English League to the Conference, I still get to play in the League Cup next season. Now, I know why this is. Obviously we...

Different scripts

I just had a thought, having seen the Serbia & Montenegro definition. Well done Pechorin, btw. :) As bygfoot will inevitably get more and more popular :), someone eventually will step forward with a definition for Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria or such. It's quite reasonable that they'd want to do th...

You had about a 47% chance of being right  really? not 53%? Yeah, to be 28, my birthday would have to have gone already (172 possible days out of 365). It's actually in September. I'm assuming birthdays are uniformly distributed over the year of course, which might not be true  (Sorry i...

you're losing me completely. Ah, now I see why. I just fetched the CVS version and saw that you fixed the crash by changing new_teams from 4 to 8. This isn't right because now there are eight teams with only two rounds, but only one team advances. The right fix was to change the number of generated...

three??? in the ireland uefa qualfiers? 8 teams come into the round! the cup winner (btw, the token CUP1 is only needed if a definition is to be used in more than one country definition file which isn't the case here) and 7 teams from the second leagues. Erm, there are only two rounds defined, so f...

just in time. what's an aix/oracle system? One of the types of system I manage at work. AIX is IBM's version of unix and Oracle's a database. We run SAP on these systems -- German software, you might well have heard of it :) you were really heartstricken by that one, weren't you ;-) it looks ...

Ireland definition

Right, here it is. I've run through a couple of seasons and it seems to work OK. However, I've been doing this in spare moments while patching two AIX / Oracle systems, so you'll excuse me if there are some small errors :) You can't really go wrong with a tricolour, so I hope you won't find the Iris...

oh, no no. you've got more important things to do, surely. and vector, too. Yep. It'll just have to stay "exceptionally ugly" then  Actually there are flag images on the web with a smaller dragon. Perhaps I'll do a quick resize of one of those later and see if it's any better. I'd n...

Re: Welsh defs

i must say the flag looks exceptionally ugly... but i don't know whether this is because the dragon simply can't be shrunk and still look good or just you doing a lousy job ;-) It's just me doing a lousy job. The problem is partly because the green stripe gets "muddy" when imagemagick res...
